FIKA Company in Toronto, Ontario seeks a Senior Accountant to own full-cycle accounting for Retail Operations and Store Support Centres, ensuring accurate, timely financial information for weekly and monthly close.

You will work closely with Operations, Construction and Merchandising, delivering analysis, improving controls, and supporting audits. A strong candidate has multi-unit retail accounting experience and excels in a fast-paced environment.

Qualificações

• Min 3–5 years progressive finance/accounting, with at least 1 year full-cycle experience.
• Experience in a multi-unit retail or consumer goods distribution environment preferred.
• Knowledge of internal controls and finance/business best practices.
• Experience with Microsoft D365, Greenline and/or COVA preferred.

Job Overview

The Senior Accountant will be accountable for the full cycle accounting functions for our Retail Operations and Store Support Centres with the objective of delivering a high level of accuracy, integrity and timeliness. They will be a key liaison with various functions in the business including Operations, Construction and Design and Merchandising. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information in supporting our weekly and monthly accounting close process.

What You’ll Do

• Lead retail operations accounting, monthly close and financial reporting process, including management analysis
• Support operations accounting team in the preparation of the monthly analysis
• Completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Preparation and analysis of Store and Department level period reporting
• Assist AP with invoice coding review activities for assigned departments and business lines.
• Preparation of working papers for the monthly internal reporting packages, including analytical commentary.
• Assist in the preparation of working papers for the quarterly and annual financial audit.
• Ensure internal controls compliance in assigned accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Participate in special projects in the Finance area and provide ad hoc financial analysis, as required.
• Preparation of input tax remittances and liaison with applicable tax authorities
• Support Accounting and Integration of acquisitions and other transactions
• Such other duties and functions as the Company may assign from time to time.

Competencies and Requirements

• Experience in the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages
• Excellent organization skills and written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable representing the accounting team with expertise and authority in areas accounting
• Handles department and store cost centre level accounting and reporting.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Experience working with large volumes of data
• Ability to work in fast paced ever changing environment with a proven track record of successfully juggling conflicting priorities
• MS excel proficient - experience with pivots, VLOOKUP’s and excel formulae.

Education, Training and Experience

• University Degree with professional accounting designation is preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years progressive finance/accounting - with at least 1 year of full cycle accounting experience
• Knowledge of internal controls and finance/business best practices
