Job Title : Senior Accountant (Contract – 9 Months)

Location : North York, ON (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)

Overview :

Our client, a leading Financial Institution, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support their corporate finance team on a 9-month contract. The ideal candidate will be a CPA / CA with strong experience in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation, ideally within the financial services industry. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite in North York).

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform full-cycle month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Complete general ledger account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries as required.
• Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance function.
• Work with large ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) to extract and analyze financial data.
• Develop and maintain Excel-based reports and financial models for management reporting.

Qualifications :

• CPA or CA designation is required .
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting best practices.
• Hands-on experience with large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle .
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
