Senior Accountant / Reconciliations Accountant

Hybrid / Remote

6 month contract to start

Job Overview

The Sr. Account – Account Reconciliation is responsible for the completion and process documentation of complex account reconciliations. The complex account reconciliations may compare up to 6 data sources to reconcile a business process. This information may come from our claims databases, from the general ledger or accounts payable modules in our ERP or bank payment information. The incumbant will be required to extract the information, create the file match process, investigate any out of balance issues, and create an account reconciliation report. This role reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities

• Data extract information to reconcile various data sources.
• Create the mapping of the various data sources to identify matches and mismatches
• Investigate mismatch issues in GP, inquiring into the GL, sales / AP or bank transactions
• Use the outstanding bank reconciliation to identify issues between claims AP and bank payments
• Troubleshoot payment errors with Operations or other members of the Finance team
• Create a repeatable process to track reconciliation issues and closure
• Create reports to highlight issues, remediation actions and aging of non remediation

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or relevant / related experience
• Five or more years of experience in an accounting position
• Excellent knowledge of accounts payable processes
• Experience in processing and analizing large volumes of data
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision / direction
• Expert level skill with Microsoft Excel. Will need to create account reconciliation file matching using Power Query.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet daily turnaround times
• Ability to communicate effectively with all people at all levels of the organization

Preferred Skills

• Proven experience completing complex reconciliation with excel.
• Superior accounting skills required for troubleshooting issues
• Not overwhelmed with large data to match and analyze
• Experience with the accounts payable, claims payable or large complex bank reconciliation
• Experience creating reconciliation data files and using Power Query or Power BI
• Experience with Great Plains software

Additional Notes

• Our work week is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. The hours are flexible with start times between 7am and 8am local time. Occasional flexibility in hours is required to meet the needs of the business.
• A laptop will be provided
