Position Overview

Seeking a candidate that is highly motivated, proactive, with excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills. Strong ability to communicate financial information both in meetings and in the form of reports.

• BCOMM (Bachelor of Commerce) with a Major in Accounting a requirement
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role
• Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritize files and complete tasks within prescribed deadlines
• Detail oriented, with the capacity to provide useful insight and quality work on an ongoing basis
• Experience in Limited Partnership accounting an asset, but not a requirement
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (and the ability to use it for the creation of reports)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
• Experience with Quickbooks Accounting Software, Write Up and Quicken an asset, but not a requirement (Can be easily learned)
• Bilingualism (spoken/written) French and English, desirable

Position Details by Function

Year End Reporting and Other Filings

• Responsible for the full accounting cycle of entities, month end close and the reconciliation of accounts
• Preparation of internal financial statements
• Preparation of accounting records for delivery to US tax accountants
• Coordinate with external accountants to assist in the completion of corporate income tax returns, partnership returns, personal income tax returns and assurance type or compilation engagements
• Comply with government reporting requirements, including the preparation of GST and QST filings, annual declarations and monthly, recurring installments

Operational

• Payment of accounts payable, processing of invoices, communications with vendors/service providers and the reconciliation of accounts
• Organize supporting documentation and back up information for bank transactions that have occurred within the month
• Coordinate with financial institutions regarding bank accounts and daily banking activity
• Monitor business performance metrics, such as the annual budget process
• Act as a resource for colleagues and participate in ad hoc projects upon request

Anticipate and Deliver on the Needs of Key Stakeholders

• Demonstrate an understanding of cash flow needs and owner priorities
• Lead cash management functions for personal family members. Manage their day-to-day banking needs and financial requests, as well as report on brokerage accounts
• Participate in meetings regarding liquidity for group entities and assist in the process
• Communicate with external partners regarding capital calls, distributions, required administrative functions (i.e. the creation of new entities) and providing timely responses to their questions
• Participate in external partner quarterly reporting process

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time, permanent

Six (6) month probationary period

Salary : TBD

Bonus : 10 % of Salary
