Job summary

Job description

One of Montreal’s oldest and most respected community centres is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a full‑time position in office in the Snowdon area.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and supervise the accounting department
  • Work closely with and support all departments in financial matters and internal compliance
  • Manage budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Document and ensure compliance of audit, financial, operational and safety controls and procedures
  • Troubleshoot in all aspects of accounting systems
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of donation and other tax receipts
  • Verify bank reconciliation
  • Prepare year‑end files for auditors
  • Other accounting related functions, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Finance/Business or related
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills in English and French
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new technology
  • Ability to prevent problematic situations before they arise
  • Strong attention to detail and great analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently, resourceful, takes initiative, team player
  • Experience with ActiveNet an asset
RESPONSIBILITÉS (FRANÇAIS)
  • Gérer et superviser le département de comptabilité;
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec tous les départements et leur offrir du support en matière de questions financières et de conformité interne;
  • Gérer les budgets et les prévisions trimestrielles;
  • Documenter et veiller à la conformité des contrôles et procédures d'audit, d’ordre financier, d’ordre opérationnel et de sécurité;
  • Trouver des solutions en lien avec tous les aspects des systèmes comptables;
  • Superviser la préparation et la distribution des dons et autres relevés d’impôt;
  • Vérifier la conciliation bancaire;
  • Préparer les dossiers de fin d'année pour les auditeurs;
  • Effectuer d’autres tâches liées à la comptabilité lorsque requis.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUISES (FRANÇAIS)
  • Diplôme en finances/affaires ou domaine connexe;
  • 3 – 5 ans d’expérience dans un rôle similaire;
  • Expérience avec QuickBooks;
  • Fortes habiletés pour la résolution de problèmes;
  • Solides aptitudes en communication, en français et en anglais;
  • Habileté à s’adapter au changement;
  • Solides compétences informatiques;
  • Habileté à prévenir les situations problématiques et à éviter qu’elles ne s’aggravent;
  • Grande attention aux détails et excellente capacité d’analyse;
  • Capacité à travailler de façon autonome, débrouillardise, sens de l’initiative et esprit d’équipe;
  • Expérience avec ActiveNet un atout.
