Job summary

Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide full cycle accounting support across Canada, including A/P, A/R, billing, payroll and reporting. You will partner with the Corporate Controller to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years in a senior accounting role, with an accounting degree and proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Markham, Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in a senior accountant or similar full cycle role.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • CPA/CGA/CMA designation is a plus.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and similar accounting platforms.
  • Experience with full cycle accounting including A/P, A/R, Billings, Payroll and Financial Reporting.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and finance team.
  • Own full cycle accounting for divisions across Canada (A/P, Billing, A/R, Financial Reporting).
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate with AP, Billing and Payroll to record transactions accurately.
  • Perform monthly P&L variance analysis and location-based reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and KPI monitoring.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors and respond to stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations with operations and present variances.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing support to several functional areas within the finance team, including billing, accounts payable, payroll and financial reporting.

The Senior Accountant must have the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. They must be a proactive learner and interested in understanding the business and the link between operations and finance. They must have the ability to handle confidential information while being able to identify and provide solutions for any unexpected challenges that may arise. They must also have the willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in a senior accountant or similar full cycle accounting role
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Accounting Designation (CPA, CGA, CMA) considered an asset
  • Experience with QuickBooks and/or similar accounting platform
  • Experience with full cycle accounting, including A/P, A/R, Billings, Payroll, Financial Reporting, etc.
  • Experience with automated A/P and expense management platforms
  • Prior experience with SAP Concur would be considered an asset
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Team player with excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate closely and provide support to the Corporate Controller
  • Responsible for full cycle accounting for several divisions operating across Canada (A/P, Billing, A/R, Financial Reporting) including being the primary owner of the books and records of these divisions
  • Responsible for reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and maintaining all supporting reconciliation schedules
  • Work closely with the accounts payable, billing, and payroll team to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately
  • Complete monthly P&L variance analysis and by-location reporting
  • Assist with the yearly budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
  • Assist with the monitoring of key business performance metrics on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Assist with preparing documentation for external auditors
  • Respond to inquiries from members of the senior management team and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare other ad hoc analysis and reports on financial matters as required
Inventory Reconciliation and Operations Support
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory accounts in collaboration with the operations team, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepare and present detailed reconciliation results and variance analysis to the Controller and operations leadership.
  • Identify and investigate areas of inventory variances, providing actionable insights and recommendations to operations to drive process improvements and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner cross-functionally to enhance inventory controls and support continuous improvement initiatives
