Job summary

Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) is seeking a compassionate pharmacy assistant to support the pharmacy team in medication preparation and patient care within a busy outpatient setting.

You will handle patient data, process insurance forms, assist with inventory, and ensure accurate billing using Kroll Pharmacy Software, under the supervision of a dispensing pharmacist.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school (diploma).
• Provision of a recent and acceptable Criminal Reference Check.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Previous Pharmacy experience and knowledge of Kroll is an asset.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Demonstrated decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm in urgent situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking candidates who are compassionate, caring and who can understand the challenges our patients and their families face. As the ideal candidate you are a pharmacy assistant who is responsible for assisting the pharmacy team in the preparations of medications and supporting them with optimal patient care. Working within a busy pharmacy or clinical environment, you have excellent communication and time-management skills.

YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answering telephones, forwarding calls, taking messages, assisting customers, stocking shelves, operating cash registers, cleaning work areas and sterilizing containers.
• Work directly with patient data, prepare insurance forms, maintain patient profiles
• Provide patient assistance for technical non-regulated functions as required (e.g., showing location of an OTC product) while ensuring that a pharmacist is consulted for all patient therapeutic issues. Administrative duties include the following: Banking & POS functions: operating POS, monitoring charge accounts, account reconciliation, etc
• Data entry and billing of prescriptions using Kroll Pharmacy Software ensuring that required documentation is complete, including third-party billing restrictions, co-payment management, and coordination of benefits
• Assist with the management and reconciliation of inventory
• Other duties as assigned by the Designated Manager or dispensing pharmacist(s)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

• Completion of secondary school (diploma)
• Provision of a recent and acceptable Criminal Reference Check.
