Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our Small Business Tax Department in Markham. This is a full-time, on-site/hybrid role ideal for a professional with a strong background in public accounting and a passion for delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, working papers, and tax returns (T1, T2, T3, HST, T4, T5, etc.)
• Manage month-end and year-end processes for a variety of owner-managed businesses
• Assist with tax planning and compliance for individuals and corporations
• Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing training and review support
• Maintain strong client relationships and respond to inquiries in a timely, professional manner

Qualifications

• CPA designation or in the final stages of completion
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in public accounting
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reporting for owner-managed businesses
• Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and CCH iFirm
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with U.S. tax, non-profits, or estates is a plus
• Completion or enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course is a plus
