Job summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant. The successful incumbent will oversee and ensure proper internal controls of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting while supporting the Finance Manager with reporting and period-end processes.

Requirements include a university/college degree in business, 5–10 years in a similar role (manufacturing preferred), and a professional accounting designation (or pursuing).

• 5 to 10 years work experience in similar position, preferably in manufacturing.
• Professional Accounting designation or pursuing.
• Proficient with SAP Cincom, CODA or similar ERP systems
• Strong working knowledge of EXCEL
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, management regulations & compliance
• Training, inspecting work and coaching skills
• Knowledge of spreadsheet & accounting procedures
• Effective interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Lead internal controls for AP, AR, and general accounting.
• Support Finance Manager with reporting and period-end processes.
• Complete monthly financial statements and variance analysis.
• Analyze costs and margins by part monthly; explain variances to budget.
• Lead GL reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and year-end close.
• Support annual budgeting and external audits.
• Prepare HST/WSIB reports and management inquiries.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, contracts, quality and configuration teams.
• Identify process improvements and document lessons learned.

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant. The successful incumbent will oversee & ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting. Support the Finance Manager with various reporting requirements & the administration of the fiscal period processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Senior Accountant’s major activities and responsibilities include the following.

• Support the cash reporting: weekly function
• Complete the month end close process in accordance with corporate timelines
• Compete monthly Financial Statement Reporting Package for Corporate
• Analyze Financial Statements and explain variance to Budget
• Analyze Costs and Margins by part on a monthly basis
• Support the Yearly Budget preparation
• Lead general accounting function, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts, A/R, A/P, recurring journal entries
• Ensure the accuracy of all department processes to the various accounts
• Perform daily review of all revenue streams, costing transactions for accuracy and investigation of discrepancies and unusual transactions
• Manage & reconcile intercompany transactions
• Identify, review and implement process improvement initiatives
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reports
• Support the external audit process and corporate enquiries
• Monthly HST and WSIB reporting
• Be a critical interface with internal manufacturing, contracts, quality and configuration departments as needed
• Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices
• Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

Position Requirements
