Job summary

Armco Capital Inc. in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the finance team.

The successful candidate will contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support forecasting and budgeting activities. The role requires 3-5 years of experience, strong accounting software and MS Office skills, and a professional designation or progress toward one.

Senior Accountant

Armco Capital Inc. (Armco) was founded in 1982 by members of the Armoyan family. During its 40 plus years of operation, Armco has grown from a small family business into a diversified and dynamic group of companies with locations in Canada and the US. Armco continues to grow; both in business diversification, development, and its team of dedicated professionals.

Now, we are partnering with them in search of a Senior Accountant to join their team in Halifax.

As a member of Armco’s financial team, you will possess a keen ability to focus on details and accuracy. People describe you as highly organized, able to prioritize and master the art of managing multiple tasks and requests with ease. You will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial analysis to ensure the organization has the best information to assist with strategical decision making. You will support the Controller by producing the month, quarter and years ends, mastering the financial reporting and general ledgers, and assisting with forecasting and budgeting activities. You feel successful when you are completing a task on time, efficiently and correctly. You are able to work well with your team, engage your internal clients and provide support in a positive and engaging manner. In short, you’re good at what you do and a team member who people will want to work alongside.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial reporting
  • Advanced computer skills (accounting software and MS Office)
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment, multi-task, and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work on projects as a team member and also independently
  • High level of Integrity and professionalism.
  • Professional accounting designation or working towards completion, will be considered an asset
