Job summary

The Carrington Group of Companies, based in Edmonton, AB, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support analysis, reporting, and reconciliations across multiple business units. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and collaboration with the Corporate Controller - Rentals.

Qualified candidates will have a post-secondary accounting credential, 5+ years of accounting experience, and hands-on knowledge of property management and Yardi Voyageur.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience in a medium to large organization.
  • Experience in property management and working knowledge of Yardi Voyageur is required.
  • Experience with financial analysis and budgets required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must express initiative, good judgment and foster a positive work atmosphere.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent and accurate general ledgers for all business units.
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Responsibility for full cycle accounting including month end close processes.
  • Calculate and file GST returns for various companies including GST self-assessment and rebate claims.
  • Assist with the budgeting process and comparing actual financial results against budgets.
  • Investigate financial variances and potential financial operational issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial packages with supporting documentation for Executives.
  • Assist with the preparation of various financial reports to meet the compliance requirements of our lenders and other federal or provincial regulatory bodies.
  • Other projects and duties within the finance department as assigned.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller - Rentals, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the preparation of analysis and reporting of financial information, along with assisting with reconciliations, and dealing with regulatory and compliance matters.
