Job summary

Weir, a global leader in mining technology, seeks a Senior Account Manager in Calgary, AB or Ft. McMurray, AB.

This onsite role focuses on managing key accounts, driving strategic sales in Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining, and Comminution, and applying deep knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment to exceed targets. Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing large accounts with revenue responsibility in mining or heavy industrial industries.
  • 4-year Engineering degree or CET certification.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key Alberta accounts generating $10M+ in annual revenue.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining, and Comminution sectors.
  • Apply technical knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment to meet customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Field Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering and Sales teams.
  • Create and execute business plans and account reviews to align with company goals.
  • Lead sales presentations to all levels within customer organizations.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and support favorable terms.
  • Mentor other sales personnel to foster growth.
  • Utilize CRM to manage opportunities and track progress.
  • Travel approximately 50% within Alberta; Fort McMurray area may require less travel.

What you’ll do
  • Account Management: Manage key accounts generating $10M+ in annual revenue by developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior management and key decision makers. Daily activities include engaging with customers to understand their needs and ensuring Weir’s solutions meet or exceed expectations. Success means growing account revenue and customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive new equipment and aftermarket sales within Oil Sands, Hard Rock Mining, and Comminution sectors. This involves analyzing market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply an enhanced technical understanding of Weir’s product portfolio including design, installation, operation, and maintenance to support customer needs and exceed sales targets. The role requires deep knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Field Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering, and Sales teams to convert every revenue opportunity and provide technical and aftermarket support. This ensures seamless customer experience and maximizes sales potential.
  • Business Planning: Create and execute comprehensive business plans and account reviews covering all market segments, product technologies, services, and competitor activities to align with company goals.
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct professional sales presentations to all levels within customer organizations to secure new business and strengthen partnerships.
  • Contract Negotiation: Review and actively participate in commercial contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms and compliance.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a leader and mentor within the Sales Team, supporting Account Managers and Inside Sales personnel to foster team growth and development.
  • CRM Utilization: Consistently use CRM applications to manage sales opportunities and track progress through all stages.
  • Travel: This is a 50% travel position primarily within Alberta Candidates based in Fort McMurray may experience less frequent travel.

What you’ll bring
Must-haves
  • Proven experience managing large accounts with significant revenue responsibility in mining or heavy industrial related industries.
  • A 4-year Engineering degree or CET certification, with a knowledge of mining equipment, materials, and technologies, specifically pumps and rotating equipment is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and achieve or exceed targets.
Nice-to-haves
  • Experience in mentoring or leadership roles within sales teams.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.
  • Knowledge of aftermarket parts and service sales in mining or industrial sectors.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including to remote locations.
