Job summary

TEEMA in Brampton, Ontario is seeking a Security Specialist to support government security compliance projects. You will ensure CSP and CGP adherence, prepare security plans, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to meet regulatory requirements.

The role requires 5–7 years in ACSO/CSO, a strong grasp of Canadian security programs, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple high‑priority tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years in ACSO and/or CSO roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bid/proposal packages from Bid–No Bid to contract implementation.
• Monitor risks, elevate issues, and propose action plans.
• Advise on Project Physical Security Requirements for facilities.
• Assist with Government inspections: Physical Security, Document Safeguarding, Classified Processing, COMSEC, CGP.
• Administer visit clearance documentation and oversee internal visitor procedures.
• Coordinate tracking, storage, and delivery of classified documents.
• Develop and implement Security Requirement Check Lists (SRCL) for projects.
• Provide ongoing training and awareness on CSP and CGP.
• Maintain resource lists to ensure personnel clearance by role.
• Perform regular audits of government security program adherence.
• Liaise with contractors on security equipment and ensure contract conformity.
• Act as Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) when CSO unavailable.
• Hours may be flexible; after-hours on-call may be required.

Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Security & Compliance, the Security Specialist will support projects from a government security compliance perspective. This individual will be able to demonstrate sound judgment and be able to anticipate risk to projects and timelines when obtaining Government security approval, assessing security requirements specific to projects, and communicating the same to both internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for continuous improvement; anticipates stakeholder needs; demonstrates vision in advancing tools, technology, and processes; well-integrated in the Government security and Controlled Goods community to stay abreast of best practices. Demonstrates a capability to provide sound guidance and advice to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while also enabling the business to meet its objectives. Requires an ability to find creative solutions to problems.

What you will be doing:

• Ensure compliance in all aspects related to the Contracts Security Program (CSP) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

• Prepare and maintain Project Security Plans outlining all Government Security Regulations specific to the programs. This may include liaising with intelligence partners such as CSIS, RCMP, etc.

• Prepare various reports on the status of Government approvals on Security of IT processing, physical security, document safeguarding, etc.

• Stay apprised of the evolution of projects by attending various internal and external reviews.

• Participate in the preparation of bid and proposal packages, following the internal process from Bid–No Bid decisions to contract implementation and management.

• Monitor risks, elevate issues, and propose action plans or solutions.

• Advise of Project Physical Security Requirements so that they are taken into account within facilities in order to meet the appropriate security guidelines set out by the Industrial Security Directorate (ISD).

• Assist with Government inspections specific to projects as required:

  • Inspections: Physical Security, Document Safeguarding, Classified Processing, COMSEC, and Controlled Goods.

• Administer documentation related to visit clearance requests and oversee the procedures for internal visitors:

  • RFVs – Each incoming and outgoing visit must be tracked officially, identifying each visitor’s need to visit, including what they will access both physically and logistically, e.g., site visit or access to IT systems.

• Coordinate the tracking, storage, and delivery of outgoing and incoming classified documentation and information.

• Advise, develop, and implement Security Requirement Check Lists (SRCL) for specific projects.

• Provide ongoing training and awareness to personnel and employees regarding the Contract Security Program and the Controlled Goods Program.

• Establish and maintain resource lists to ensure all personnel are cleared appropriately based on role.

• Perform regular audits to ensure all areas of Government security programs are being adhered to.

• Liaise with contractor(s) working on security equipment and ensure the contractual conformity of their performance.

• Act as an Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) when the Company Security Officer is not available.

• Flexibility of hours as on-call after-hours may be required.

• Other related duties as required.

What you must have:

• A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in an ACSO and/or CSO role.

• Full understanding of, and demonstrated experience with, the Canadian Contracts Security Program and Controlled Goods Program.

• University and/or College degree in Business Administration, Law Enforcement, IT Security, or related fields is an asset.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and with minimum supervision.

Salary/Rate Range: $80,000- $125,000 for senior with 6+ years of experience
