Job summary

Paymentus is seeking an SOC Analyst to monitor security threats, analyze incidents, and document findings in a professional office environment in Canada. The role focuses on alert triage, SIEM configuration, and collaboration with senior analysts to ensure regulatory compliance and robust defenses.

The ideal candidate has a BS/BA in a related field, 3+ years in security, and experience with incident response and forensics. CISSP is a plus, with opportunities to grow in a dynamic security team.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Engineering, InfoSec, or Computer Science.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, InfoSec or Computer Science.
• Minimum 3+ years of work experience in information security.
• CISSP certification is a plus.
• Experience deploying/operating common information security solutions.
• Knowledge of current security threats and landscape.
• Practical incident response and digital forensics experience is an asset.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Review and triage information security alerts, provide analysis, determine and track remediation, and escalation as appropriate.
• Assist with log management and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions design and configuration.
• Perform incident response within the area of responsibility.
• Participate in digital forensics activities while responding to security incidents.
• Ensure authorized access by investigating improper access, revoking access, reporting violations, and monitoring information requests.
• Perform installation, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of security applications and appliances across all functional departments.
• May perform other duties as assigned including work in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.
• Document processes and procedures as required.
• Investigate and research improvements on existing workflows to improve efficiency.

Job description

The SOC Analyst is responsible for day-to-day security threat monitoring and analysis. This role manages and documents security incidents, reviews security alerts for compliance, works with senior analysts and Security teams on known or suspected security threats, adheres to best practices and recognized control frameworks.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineers, InfoSec or Computer Science.
• Background in delivering projects in a timely fashion.
• 3+ years of work experience.
• CISSP Certification is a plus.
• Practical experience with deployment and/or operation of commonly used information security solutions
• Knowledge of current security threats, techniques, and landscape
• Practical experience in security incident response and digital forensics is an asset
• Scripting in one of common scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell) is an asset

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
