Overview

Note: The schedule for this position may vary and would require the ability to work shift work, late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

A structured Security Officer role is critical to the success of the River Cree Resort & Casino. The primary purpose of the Security Officer is to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and associates of the resort.

Reporting to the Security Shift Supervisor, the Security Officer monitors for activity that could be harmful to people at the resort. They are usually assigned an area of patrol and will respond to security-related issues as needed. The Security Officer will occasionally be required to manage large crowds and monitor for signs of vandalism or break & entry.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of staff and patrons of the resort.
  • Patrol designated areas as assigned by the Security Shift Supervisor.
  • Check doors, windows, locks, and building interiors for signs of damage or theft.
  • Provide information, guide traffic, respond to complaints, and maintain order.
  • Monitor for intruders, sometimes using electronic surveillance systems.
  • Observe and document security-related activities.
  • Respond to service calls for escorting, gaming chip fills/credits, money transport, and audits.
  • Manage controlled key sets and badges for vendors, guests, and employees according to internal controls.
  • Prioritize safety for yourself, colleagues, and comply with all Health and Safety requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of security/surveillance experience; experience in a casino environment is preferred.
  • Education in a related field, including law enforcement, is an asset.
  • Trained in self-defense and conflict de-escalation without force.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform duties under stressful conditions.
  • Current first aid certification is an asset.
  • Physical ability to handle potentially aggressive situations and transport materials over 25 lbs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in report writing and incident investigation.
