Job summary

METROLINX – SECURITY GUARD - WHITBY is presented by A.S.P. Incorporated as part of its commercial security team. The role demands guarding property, assisting guests, and maintaining safety in a high-activity environment in Whitby, Ontario.

Candidates need security experience, an Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/ CPR/AED, and a valid G license if rail facilities apply. The job requires outdoors work, weekend hours, and strong customer service skills for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 1 year of security experience, transportation or industrial sites preferred.
• Must possess an Ontario Security Guard License.
• Must possess valid First Aid, CPR and AED certification (Standard Level C).
• Must possess valid G driver’s license with zero demerit points (rail facilities only).
• Strong written and verbal communication, including radio use.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection from theft, vandalism, and trespassing.
• Conduct locks and unlocks of doors, gates, and fences.
• Office support such as reception tasks, receiving mail and packages, and answering phone calls.
• Monitor the properties via CCTV and the Access Control System.
• Ensure all persons entering the facilities sign the visitor log on arrival and departure.
• Engage in professional, collaborative, and proactive security services.
• Foot patrols on site on an ongoing hourly basis.
• Assist in emergency situations such as evacuations and medical incidents.
• Submission of daily reports and incident reports.

We provide services including security, customer service, K9 detection, concierge, and baggage handling to a wide range of clients such as residential properties, commercial facilities, retail spaces, as well as some of the largest airports in Canada.

ASP is looking for Security Guards for a major transportation organization in multiple GTA locations on a 24/7 basis. Candidates must possess previous security experience and be able to provide highly visible service in a professional, competent, and courteous manner, whilst exercising excellent communication and customer service skills. Working with integrity and awareness, the Security Guard takes responsibility for securing and protecting our clients, their guests and vendors, and the property itself.

What you will do:

• Provide protection from theft, vandalism, and trespassing

• Via CCTV and the Access Control System, monitor the properties
• Ensure all persons entering the facilities sign the visitor’s log on arrival and departure

• Foot patrols on site on an ongoing hourly basis
• For rail facilities only, vehicle patrols on an hourly basis
• Prevention of loitering and soliciting
• Investigate, report, and respond to any incidents and alarms as required
• Assist in emergency situations such as evacuations and medical incidents
• Ensure all site equipment is secure
• Work in compliance with OHSA, AODA, CCC, and PSISA regulations, etc
• Be responsible for keys and other equipment such as cellphones and radios
• Customer service and collaboration with visitors, staff, contractors, and other personnel
• Assist in emergency situations such as evacuations and medical incidents
• Escalation to emergency services when necessary
• Submission of daily reports and incident reports
• Perform other relevant functions as required

Abilities & Working Conditions

• Weather Resilience: Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions — including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
• Physical Stamina: Requires prolonged walking across uneven ground, standing, bending, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
• Alertness & Responsiveness: Able to maintain focus, situational awareness, and act swiftly in emergency scenarios. Must remain alert around moving trains, heavy machinery, and noise-intensive environments
• Protective Gear: Will be required to wear weather-appropriate uniforms and PPE (raincoats, thermal layers, hard hat, safety shoes, weather-rated gear etc.)
• Flexible Scheduling: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by event schedules

Who you are:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of 1 year of prior security experience, transportation or industrial sites preferred
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Ability to work in both indoors and outdoor environments, think critically, perform safely, and work with a team
• Must possess an Ontario Security Guard License
• Must possess valid First Aid, CPR and AED certification (Standard Level C)
• Must possess valid G driver’s license with zero demerit points (rail facilities only)
• Strong written and verbal communication, including radio use
• Ability to work 40 hours per week is mandatory for full-time staff, inclusive of holidays and weekends
• Availability of two days per week is mandatory for casual staff
• Able to walk extended distances, including stairs, in all weather conditions

Compensation

• Expected compensation: $18.75 per hour
