Job summary

Commissionaires Victoria, The Islands And Yukon is seeking dedicated security professionals to protect airports, schools, government facilities and other sites across the Victoria area.

Location varies with multiple sites; shifts include days, evenings, and overnights, with wages from $20.00/hr to $21.53/hr. Reports to Site Supervisor/Client Service Manager; training provided; benefits and employee programs support staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License.
• Must be able to obtain a Reliability Clearance and be minimum 19 years of age.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Access Control: Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter.
• Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols of the premises, to detect and deter any suspicious activity or potential security threats.
• Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems, to identify and respond to any security breaches.
• Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as required.
• Report Writing: Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation.
• Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards.

Wage: $20.00/hr - $21.53/hr

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols of the premises, to detect and deter any suspicious activity or potential security threats.
• Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems, to identify and respond to any security breaches.
• Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action to resolve the situation and minimize risk. This includes coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as required.
• Report Writing: Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation as needed. Maintain clear communication with supervisors and other security personnel.
• Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License or be willing to obtain it.
• Must be able to obtain a Reliability Clearance and be minimum 19 years of age.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency in using security technology (e.g., CCTV, access control systems).
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

• Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions if patrols involve outdoor areas.
• The position requires standing or walking for extended periods.
