We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Security and Middleware Specialist to join our enterprise team. This role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in IBM middleware technologies and a passion for delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions in a team-oriented environment.

As a Security and Middleware Specialist, you will lead the design, deployment, and support of critical middleware platforms including IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), IBM Security Verify Access, IBM Security Directory Server, IBM DataPower, Sterling File Gateway (SFG), and IBM Control Center Monitor (CCM). You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of enterprise applications across development, testing, and production environments. This role also includes managing digital certificates, enforcing security compliance, and providing 24 x 7 on-call support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, patch, and configure Sterling File Gateway, including partner onboarding and route configuration.
• Manage digital certificates, business processes, and adapter configurations (Connect:Direct, FTP, SFTP).
• Integrate with IBM Control Center Monitor (CCM) and maintain user access controls.
• Install, configure, and patch CCM for secure file transfer monitoring.
• Responsible for end-to-end digital certificate lifecycle management, including re-keying and certificate renewals for both client-owned and Kyndryl-owned certificates.
• Manage encryption and digital certificate compliance with industry standards.
• Deploy and maintain IBM Security Directory Server infrastructure, including password policies, DNs, and group structures.
• Generate ad hoc user ID reports and support IAM-related issues.
• Deploy, upgrade, patch, and maintain IBM Security Verify Access
• Implement WebSeal reverse proxy, ACLs, SAML federation (IdP/SP) and OIDC federations
• Deploy, upgrade, patch, and maintain IBM DataPower appliances and firmware.
• Support web services proxy, multi-protocol gateways, and AAA policies.
• Deploy, upgrade, patch, and maintain WebSphere Application Server environments.
• Manage application deployments (WAR/EAR), virtual hosts, JNDI bindings, data sources, and security configurations.
• Tune JVMs, thread pools, and connection pools for optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot issues using logs, heap/thread dumps, and browser debugging tools.
• Coordinate with clients to schedule and verify security patch implementations across DIT, SIT, UAT, and PROD.
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless application deployment and issue resolution.
• Participate in incident response teams to restore services during major outages.
• Coordinate with security and compliance teams to implement hardening measures and pass audits.

Required Skills And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years experience in IBM Security Verify Access
• 5+ years experience in IBM Security Directory Server
• 5+ years experience in IBM DataPower Gateways
• 3+ years experience with Sterling File Gateway
• 3+ years experience in SSO standards (SAML 2.0, OIDC) and vendors (Ping, Okta, etc.)
• 3+ years experience in web application security (OWASP Top 10 threats)
• 3+ years experience in Web Application Server and IBM HTTP Server
• 1+ years experience with web application firewall technologies such as Imperva
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of web application security protocols (HTTPS, REST, SOAP, TLS, Digital certificates) and best practices.
• Strong understanding of encryption algorithms, key management protocols, and security best practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong knowledge scripting / programming languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, Java, etc.
• Experience with network protocols / concepts, TCP/IP, packet analysis, DNS, CDN, load balancers, and network troubleshooting
• Familiarity with security tools and platforms for vulnerability scanning, threat detection and analysis (Splunk, Qradar, Tenable, SentinelOne, etc)
• Ability to provide 24 x 7 on call support
