Job summary

Intact is offering a cybersecurity co-op internship in Toronto, Canada. You’ll join a large team of Digital, Data and Tech experts and gain hands-on experience across risk, compliance and security monitoring initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Scrum Masters and Product Owners, maintaining documentation, and contributing to metrics reports while you develop your cybersecurity skills during the Winter/Spring term.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Relevant work experience in Information Technology (asset).
• Basic knowledge of information security management principles and practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Available 35 hours a week from January 4 to April 23, 2027.
• Must be an active student during internship and/or return to school next semester.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact to handle the team’s intake requests for cybersecurity risk and compliance related activities.
• Support and maintain the risk register, derogations, and third-party risk assessment-related activities.
• Work closely with Scrum Master or Product Owner to prioritize and triage requests.
• Maintain repository for baseline documentation and SOPs.
• Assist the Business Analyst to prepare and report on Cybersecurity metrics and indicators.
• Oversee documentation and testing for cybersecurity risk management tools.
• Act as an expert in security incident response within the security monitoring team.
• Stay up to date with information security news, threats and detection methods.
• Make recommendations to improve security monitoring and provide advisories to other teams.
• Execute periodical review procedures for IT security procedures and reports.

Job description

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

Salary Range (but Not Limited To)

57,000 - 71,200

What You’ll Do Here

• Be the first point of contact to handle the team’s intake requests for cybersecurity risk and compliance related activities
• Support and maintain the risk register, derogations, and third-party risk assessment-related activities
• Work closely with the team’s Scrum Master or Product Owner and other stakeholders to prioritize and triage requests
• Maintain the repository for baseline documentation and standard operating procedures
• Assist the team’s Business Analyst to prepare and report on Cybersecurity metrics and key indicators
• Oversee documentation, implementation and testing for the organization’s cybersecurity risk management tools
• Act as an expert in security incident response within the security monitoring team and on other security initiatives and projects.
• Stay up to date with information security newsfeeds, techniques and trends, threat landscape, attacks techniques, detection methods, etc.
• Make recommendations to improve security monitoring and provide advisories to other teams and projects to improve the company's protection.
• Executes periodical review procedures for IT security procedures by producing relevant reports and by following up with accountable stakeholders.

What You Bring To The Table

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Relevant work experience in Information Technology (asset)
• Basic knowledge of information security management principles and practices.
• Good knowledge of ethical principles while understanding business and information security ethics.
• Working towards one of these certifications would be a considerable asset: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, GSEC, GISP.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Available 35 hours a week from January 4 to April 23, 2027
• Must be an active student during your internship and/or returning to school in next semester following your internship

We hire co-ops every semester (Winter, Summer and Fall)!
