Job summary

The Cree Nation Government is seeking a Sectoral Officer based in Mistissini to manage incoming information on exclusive exploration rights and mining activities on Category II and III lands. You will respond to regulatory correspondence and help implement tourism programs and outfitting sales processes with the first right of refusal.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Business, Administration, or related field.
• Three to five years of relevant work experience.
• Fluency in Cree and English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Implement provisions of the Cree-Quebec Governance agreement related to mining claims and exclusive exploration rights.
• Develop and implement communication protocols for new mining claims in Eeyou Istchee using GIS.
• Maintain up-to-date maps and data on exclusive exploration rights and exploration projects.
• Manage incoming communications from the mining industry regarding exploration projects and permitting requests.
• Manage notifications for the right of first refusal on the sale of outfitting operations in Eeyou Istchee.
• Collaborate with internal and external funding agencies for outfitting operations and tourism opportunities.
• Represent the department in tables, committees and working groups; support quarterly/annual reporting.
