Job summary

North Addington Education Centre, in Cloyne, Ontario, seeks a part-time School to Community educator to support students with developmental disabilities. The role involves planning, delivering, and assessing programming for students in School to Community Services, and leading IEP development in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

This contract posting is for one day per week, with an additional 75 minutes of prep on a separate day, location to be determined.

Qualifications

• Special Education Part 1 required or currently enrolled (documentation required).
• Intermediate or Senior Qualifications required.
• BMS training preferred.
• Special Education Part 2 asset.
• Additional Qualification in Junior asset.

• Facilitating the transition of students into and out of the program.
• Assisting in solution-making processes.
• Administering of assessments; and
• Providing information about appropriate community resources.

1. Current Secondary Contract Teachers are eligible to apply to these positions.

Position Overview

A challenging and exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual with extensive knowledge and skills in the area of Special Education. Specifically, this teaching position involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to promote and support academic excellence for students with developmental disabilities. You will plan, deliver, and assess programming for students who receive School to Community Services. You will collaboratively lead in the development, implementation and tracking of Individual Education Plans. You may also assistclassroom educators in providing appropriate accommodationsand supports.

This contract posting is one day per week, specific day to be determined.

In addition, the position has 75min of prep on a different day, location to be determined

• Demonstrated experience and commitment to EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion)
• Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Experience working with students with special needs
• Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans to guide programming
• Knowledge of Developmental Services community partners and resources
• Experience developing programming and providing strategies for Educational Assistants to support student safety and achievement
• Ability/experience conducting diagnostic assessments to inform planning and instruction
• Knowledge and experience implementing effective accommodations and modifications as well as alternative programming
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
