Job summary

Fame Fisheries Limited is seeking a Second Engineer aboard the factory freezer trawler M/V Newfoundland Victo to ensure the safe, reliable operation of the engine room and associated systems. The candidate must hold a Transport Canada Second-class Motor Ship certificate with STCW endorsement and MED/survival training, plus several years of relevant marine experience.

You will supervise watches, plan maintenance, and coordinate with the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

• Valid Transport Canada Second-class, Motor Ship certificate with STCW endorsement.
• Required Marine Emergency Duties (MED) and survival training.
• Strong technical background and practical experience with common marine machinery and systems.
• Demonstrated supervisory and management skills.
• Minimum three years of experience in a similar position is considered an asset.
• Experience with marine refrigeration systems and factory processing equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing operation and maintenance of machinery, refrigeration systems, auxiliary equipment, and fish-processing plant.
• Carrying out and supervising planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Supervising engine-room personnel during watches and maintenance activities.
• Assisting the Chief Engineer with planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
• Advising on spare parts, stores, and consumables.
• Ensuring safety and regulatory compliance within the Engine Department.
• Maintaining safety and operational integrity during assigned watch.

Fame Fisheries Limited is currently seeking qualified candidates for Second Engineer positions aboard our factory freezer trawler, M/V Newfoundland Victo.

Second Engineer – Factory Freezer Trawl

The Second Engineer serves as an Engineering Officer of the Watch and assists the Chief Engineer in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and management of the Engine Department. Must hold the appropriate certification and demonstrate the competence required to relieve the Chief Engineer when necessary.

Rotation and Benefits

• The position operates on a rotation of approximately two trips onboard (approximately 46days) followed by two trips off, with some flexibility depending on vessel operation
