Responsabilités

• Operate trucks >1.5 ton with dump box, sander, snowplow wing attachments.
• Operate front-end loader, excavator, skid steer, pumper/water truck, tractor with blower, etc.
• Review and follow work orders; respond to emergencies and road incidents.
• Install barricades for road closures/detours and perform light maintenance as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Township of Oro-Medonte is currently seeking applicants for the full-time contract role of Seasonal Equipment Operator. The applicant will report to the Operations Division of the Operations & Community Services Department. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation of trucks in excess of 1 ½ ton capacity with dump box, sander, and snowplow wing attachments.

Highlights of key responsibilities include:

• Operation of front-end loader, excavator, skid steer, pumper/water truck, tractor with blower attachment, 1-ton pickup truck with snowplow blade and sander/sander attachments, street sweeper, trailers and brush chipper;
• Reviewing and following up on work orders as directed;
• Responding to emergency roadside tree removal;
• Installation of barricades for road closures/detours;
• May also perform light maintenance of equipment;
• Other duties as assigned.

What you Bring

The applicant must have completed grade 12 or equivalent combined with a minimum of two years related experience; have sound knowledge of maintenance and construction practices as well as being competent in operating construction equipment and large commercial motor vehicles. The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, which will include but is not limited to shoveling, raking, sweeping, bending, lifting, carrying and the use of heavy equipment and supplies. Experience with municipal road maintenance and construction would be an asset. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and will be required to work stand by and/or on call shifts; Must be available to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays in a variety of environmental conditions. This temporary contract is anticipated to run from November 2026 through April 2027.

A valid Ontario Class “DZ” Driver’s License and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract are also required for this role.
