Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) is seeking a Seasonal Airfield Specialist for the winter operations season in Dieppe, NB, Canada. The role operates 12-hour shifts (days or nights) with recall each year and potential extra hours based on operational needs.

The job includes snow removal with heavy equipment, airside/groundside maintenance, GRF runway reporting, emergency response support, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires HS diploma, licenses, and GRF training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to obtain Airside Vehicle Operators Permit, Transport Canada Security Clearance and Radio Operators License.
• Must have, or plan to complete upon hire, the IAAE GRF and GMIAA GRF training.
• Valid Class 3 driver's license with air brakes endorsement is important.

Responsibilities

• Snow removal using snow plows, blowers, loaders and plow/wing-equipped trucks.
• Perform routine maintenance on airport premises, roads and lands (airside & groundside).
• Runway condition reporting (GRF).
• Provide Emergency Response support as required.
• Lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.

General Overview of the Job

The Seasonal Airfield Specialist works as part of a team that maintains various airport paved surface structures using a variety of heavy equipment for snow removal and winter operations. This position works 12-hour shifts of either days or nights, rotating on a monthly basis. We are currently seeking individuals for the winter operations season, which runs from early November 2026 through a portion of the first half of April 2027. Candidates will be provided the dates of hire and end of term during the interview process. The position is recalled annually for the winter months for 24 hours a week, with availability for additional hours, based on operational requirements.

• Snow removal with the use of a variety snow plows, snow blowers, front end loaders, dump trucks with plow and wing attachments
• Performs routine maintenance of Airport premises, roads and lands, both airside and groundside
• Runway condition reporting (GRF)
• Provides Emergency Response support as required
• Lifts equipment and supplies weighing up to 50lbs

Our Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain Airside Vehicle Operators Permit, Transport Canada Security Clearance and Radio Operators License
• Must have, or plan to complete upon hire, the IAAE Global Reporting Format (GRF) and GMIAA internal training program on GRF.

This position is located at our Airport Operations Facility in Dieppe, and reports to the Senior Manager, Airside Operations. The starting rate of pay is $31.24 per hour, with a 2.5% increase at the beginning of the second season, and another 2.5% increase at the beginning of the third season. The role is part of the collective bargaining unit (UCTE) for the GMIAA.
