PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of the Senior Financial Planning Associate is to provide financial planning that is closely integrated with wealth management, as it supports the Wealth Advisor team in laying the groundwork for creating and developing a comprehensive wealth strategy for clients including the preparation and delivery of personal financial plans. The role will contribute to the development and management of the Advisor’s business through client relationship management and through identification of growth opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Proactively support the financial planning needs of the Advisor’s assigned clients, including deep discovery with the client to uncover goals and objectives, preparing, presenting the plan, and working with the Advisor to implement the recommendations identified in the plan.
  • Input client data from documents submitted into the financial planning software.
  • Build a financial plan that addresses clients’ immediate and future goals and objectives.
  • Provide alternative scenarios or solutions when clients are unable to meet goals.
  • Identify and communicate referral opportunities to advisors.
  • Champion an integrated and organized approach to planning through collaboration with internal specialists (Taxation, Insurance, Estate & Trust, Philanthropy).
  • Contribute to the ongoing professional practice by participating in monthly Total Wealth Planning calls collaborating with local Senior Total Wealth Planners and Total Wealth Planning Associates to ensure a consistent product and process is delivered to clients.
  • Provide support to Wealth Advisor and team by providing updates on financial planning and industry trends and strategic recommendations that may benefit their clients.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS:

  • Licensing: CFP or IQFP is required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Representative with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) is considered an asset.
  • College or University degree.
  • In-depth understanding of the comprehensive financial planning process including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, and tax issues.
  • Experience in Total Wealth Planning engagement from client discovery, plan preparation to presentation delivery.
  • Experience in a client-facing role with opportunity to provide financial advice.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a results-focused mindset.
