Job description

We are seeking a Scientist II/Senior Scientist, Immunology to join Aspect's Translational Sciences team. Reporting to the VP of Translational Sciences, the Scientist will contribute and advise on the immunology and histology aspects of our bioprinted therapeutic programs. This includes leading a histology team, planning and performing lab experiments, analyzing data, and presenting the results to a diverse audience. Your contributions will be critical in advancing healthcare, driving the development of bioprinted tissue therapeutics that have the potential to revolutionize the treatment of diseases previously deemed incurable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, shape and execute scientific studies to characterize immune responses to implantable bioprinted tissues in appropriate small and large animal models.
  • Develop strategies for modulating immune response to implantable tissue therapeutics and validate approaches in relevant animal model systems and support the execution, analysis, and interpretation of in vivo studies.
  • Conduct immunological and biochemical assays to determine immunogenicity or activity of engineered approaches to modulate host immune response to implants.
  • Lead and guide histology team to understand priorities and complete studies as they come in.
  • Interpret standard histology, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry stains to understand host tissue responses to implants.
  • Be the leading expert on immunology and collaborate with biologists, biomaterial scientists and engineers to solve their immune challenges.
  • Drive key program milestones and direction by analyzing data, interpreting results, and presenting information through experimental reports and presentations.
  • Maintain clear and rigorous experimental records, including electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Become an expert user of Aspect's microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Education + Experience: PhD in immunology is preferred, or related discipline.
  • Professional experience: You have 3-8 years' of experience in post-doctoral, biotech or commercial setting. Industry experience is preferred.
  • Histology knowledge: Understands and has performed microtomy, standard histology stains such as H&E, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Able to use histology to answer immunological questions.
  • Immunology expert: You are a subject matter expert in immunology and molecular and cellular immunology techniques. Understanding innate immune responses to biomaterials is highly desired.

The hiring range for this role is $89,000-$136,700, annually. Our ranges are based on market data. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers. Note that base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Aspect.
