Job summary

Harris Academy Sutton is seeking a Science Technician to provide technical support to the Science Department, enabling practical classes and maintaining a safe working environment. The actual salary for this role will be £25,566.11 - £25,931.85 (38 weeks per year, 37.5 hours per week).

We would like to hear from you if you have: A Level or equivalent in science, COSHH training, Health and Safety knowledge, and experience as a school technician.

Qualifications

• Qualifications to A Level or equivalent in science.
• COSHH training as appropriate.
• Health and safety regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist and advise teaching staff on preparation and layout for practical exercises.
• Prepare equipment and materials to teacher specifications, modify from existing equipment if needed.
• Advise students and staff on safe use of tools and equipment.
• Assist in safety, repair and general maintenance of resources, equipment and tools.
• Ensure welfare and care of plants and animals in science area and equipment security.
• Prepare for practical lessons by understanding science syllabus and schemes of work.
• Assist with stock keeping and inventory.
• Undertake safety checks and risk assessments to comply with Health and Safety and COSHH.
