Job summary

Chinook School Division is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the K-12 school system. The role involves collaborative work with Speech Language Pathologists, Educational Psychologists and Student Services Coordinators to provide comprehensive services.

The successful candidate will meet the qualifications, hold a Master''s degree in Occupational Therapy, and be eligible for Saskatchewan registration. A driver''s license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
• Eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Society of Occupational Therapists.
• Valid driver''s license and willingness to travel.
• Motivation to work independently and in a team.
• Superior interpersonal, communication, and assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessments of students for education-related function (hand use, oral motor, visual-motor, seating, organization, sensory processing, self-care).
• Participates in collaborative program planning with colleagues.
• Consults with teachers, educational assistants, counsellors and parents.
• Adapts classroom environments and learning materials to support participation.
• Provides recommendations for assistive technology and equipment.
• Demonstrates and trains staff to implement recommendations.
• Monitors implementation and provides feedback to school personnel, students and family.
• Provides in-service for school personnel with Student Services team.
• Supports transition planning from secondary to adult life.
• Contributes to staff development and program evaluation.
