Job summary

The Greater Victoria School District #61 is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain and operate grounds equipment for public educational services. The role requires a Grade 12 certificate, a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license, and experience with grounds maintenance and safety procedures.

The position is temporary, with a pay rate of $29.64 per hour plus 11% in lieu of benefits, Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm, until April 23, 2027 or return of the incumbent.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent education/experience.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
• Experience operating/maintaining grounds equipment.
• Knowledge of grounds and landscaping maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to maintain safety for others.
• Proficiency with digital tech including email, databases, and facilities management software.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, public and suppliers.
• Able to lift up to 20 kg and work in a physically active environment.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain school district grounds equipment.
• Perform duties in compliance with safety regulations.
• Work Monday to Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm.
