Job summary

Lethbridge School Division is seeking a Caretaker for the Galbraith Elementary location to perform cleaning and building upkeep. The role requires rotating between evening and day shifts, with some non-instructional time.

The Caretaker reports to the Head Caretaker or designate and must interact positively with students and staff. Responsibilities include cleaning, securing buildings, and supporting safety drills, with physical tasks and chemical handling part of the daily routine.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated initiative and good judgement.
• Ability to build positive relations with staff and students.
• Capable of working with minimum supervision.
• Organize work and adjust daily routine as conditions require.
• Capable of performing routine tasks daily.
• Knowledge of chemicals/procedures used by caretaking staff.

Responsibilities

• Clean washrooms, fixtures, partitions, and shower areas.
• Wipe desks, counters, doors, windows; dusting.
• Mop, vacuum, and wax floors.
• Secure Division buildings and perform preventative maintenance.
• Assist with lock downs, fire drills, and lighting changes.
• Snow and ice removal from walkways.
