Job summary

The Strait Regional Centre for Education invites applications for a Casual Cafeteria Worker for the 2026-2027 school year, supporting Dalbrae Academy, SAREC, St. Andrews Consolidated School, and Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School.

Responsibilities include cooking, baking, and food preparation, keeping daily accounts, inventory control, and general kitchen duties in coordination with the cafeteria team; plus supporting the school recycling program. Equity groups are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equalivant.
• Previous experience in a cafeteria, food-service, hospitality, or customer-service environment.
• Current certification in CPR & First Aid or willing to obtain.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
• Enjoy working with students.
• Current Food Handling Certificate (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Cooking, baking and preparation of food.
• Keeping daily accounts and inventory control.
• Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the caferteria team (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes, etc.)
• Support of the school recycling program.
