Job summary

Stock Transportation Ltd. is seeking a School Bus Driver for Edmonton, AB area to provide daily transportation for students on a fixed route.

The role requires safe driving, punctuality, and interaction with Parents, Teachers, and school personnel. Applicants must hold Alberta Class 5 or Ontario Class G licences, pass a clean driving record, complete provincial requirements, and be willing to work split shifts Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Alberta Class 5 licence with clean driving history (<=3 demerit points, no speeding >24 km/h)
  • Ontario Class G licence with clean driving history (<=3 demerit points, no speeding >24 km/h)
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Clean driving abstract
  • Minimum 2 years driving history
  • Complete the Company provided training program
  • Criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
  • Medical exam as per the province’s requirements
  • A First-Aid Certificate may be required depending on the school board
  • Available to work a split shift (Mon–Fri)
  • Tact and diplomacy with Students, Parents, and School Personnel
  • Committed, dependable and reliable

Responsibilities

  • Pick up passengers at pre-determined locations
  • Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behaviour with their supervisor or manager
  • Report to work on time and operate route in a safe manner
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections daily, using Company tools and swipe technology
  • Practice defensive driving at all times, and proactively avoid accidents by practicing safe driving and work habits
  • Open and close bus doors daily, and assist passengers who are boarding and exiting the bus
  • Evacuate bus in emergency situations and physically assist passengers to evacuate
  • Refill fuel and washer fluid in assigned vehicle when necessary, before picking up passengers
  • Manage student behaviour by exercising communication and discipline as per Company policies, and report student discipline issues to the school and to the Company immediately
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and major or minor defects, to office immediately
  • Complete all required paperwork, including route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests, in a timely manner
  • Deliver vehicle to office for repairs, preventative maintenance inspections, and repairs
  • Contact Parents of passengers if instructed to by the Company
  • Attend all Company Safety Meetings
  • Adhere to Company standards in the operation of Company vehicles and customer service
  • Follow all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, as well as local Customer Service Center work directions and instructions
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Company

School Bus Driver

A School Bus Driver provides daily transportation services to Students on an assigned route. The Driver interacts with Parents, Teachers, and other School personnel.

Duties And Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Alberta- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence or higher and possess good driving history (no more than 3 demerit points accumulated and no speeding tickets over 24km/hr)
  • Ontario- Must possess a valid provincial Class G Driver’s Licence or higher and possess good driving history (no more than 3 demerit points accumulated and no speeding tickets over 24km/hr)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a clean Drivers Abstract
  • Must have at least 2 years of driving history
  • Must successfully complete the Company provided training program required by the province
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
  • Must successfully complete medical test as per the province’s requirements
  • A First-Aid Certificate may be required depending on the school board
  • Must be available to work a split shift (both morning and afternoon shifts) on a daily basis from Monday to Friday
  • Must possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with Students, Parents, and School Personnel
  • Must be committed, dependable and reliable
