Job description

Work Schedule: Approx. 90 minutes between the times of 11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. (depending on school schedule).

Thank you for your interest in a School Assistant (Lunch-time Supervisor). The role of the school assistant is to provide supervisory support to teaching staff during peak or critical periods of the school day. This position includes lunch period supervision or as needed by the school and yard duty supervision. Successful candidates will be required to complete online (virtual) health and safety training prior to start date (as well as school in-service training).

Important Information for CUPE 1734 Members:

As per the Collective Agreement (A.11.7), an Employee who is successful in filling a permanent twelve (12) month job posting will remain in such position for a minimum of twelve (12) months. An Employee who is successful in filling a permanent ten (10) month job posting will remain in such position for a minimum of the remainder of the school year. The above requirements may be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. These clauses above do not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion.

As a condition of employment, in accordance with the Education Act, anyone seeking employment or wanting to volunteer must provide a satisfactory police record check. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) must be completed by the police services in the jurisdiction in which you reside, this is based on your home address (only accepted by police services within Canada); must be satisfactory to the YRDSB and completed within six (6) months prior to the scheduled start date. It is the candidate's responsibility to provide the results to the Board upon instruction.

We will accept satisfactory PVSCs that name any other school board and other employers (daycare centers, OCT, and employers that would require a police check for vulnerable persons) in Ontario and obtained within the last six (6) months.
