Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) Bowmanville is seeking a School Age Educator for a split shift role in a kindergarten/school-age classroom. The position is permanent and involves full-day shifts during school breaks and PA days.

You will engage with children, families, and community partners, fostering emergent curriculum and lifelong learning. Location is Bowmanville, Ontario, with hours 25–30 per week.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience working with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR pursuing or interested in pursuing their ECE diploma OR alternative designation eligible for Director's Approval.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities reflecting children’s interests to support development.
• Maintain active supervision while engaging in play.
• Document children’s learning progress through observation and reflection.
• Create and maintain a safe environment that protects health and well-being.
• Assist children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
• Foster relationships with families and involve them in learning.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families and community partners.
• Participate in team meetings and staff training opportunities.
• Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
• Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry policies and procedures.
