The targeted hiring range for this position is $11.13 - $14.04 per hour depending on qualifications; however, the expanded salary range provides opportunities for advancement. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and job location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, competencies, experience, and relevant education, training or a combination of these factors and market demand. More information about the specific salary range and benefits for your location will be discussed during the hiring process.

Job Description

The St. James Hotel will be your best summer job! We're making summer job offers now!

We're looking for engaging team members and are willing to train individuals with a great attitude and professional style.

Work 20-40 hours per week during the summer over a combination of afternoons/evenings and weekends.

Extend your availability to work part-time up to 20 hours per week during May, September, and October, and we'll do our best to accommodate your desired work schedule as long as you have availability to work evenings and weekends.

The Server works as a Front of House Team Member, providing superior hospitality in our restaurant(s) by: greeting guests with a smile, taking orders, serving food, answering questions about menu items and beverages, and ensuring high-quality service and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain table settings by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to spills or special needs. Execute service as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  2. Demonstrate full knowledge of all food, cocktail, liquor, wine, and beer products to enhance guest experience.
  3. Be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond accurately to guest inquiries.
  4. Enhance the property's reputation by taking ownership of requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
  5. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant(s).
  6. Perform preparatory duties such as polishing glassware and silverware, setting tables, stocking sections, and folding napkins.
  7. Check guests' IDs and monitor alcohol consumption to ensure compliance with regulations.
  8. Handle cash accurately and reconcile server financials at shift end.
  9. Comply with all health code guidelines for safe food and beverage handling.
  10. Coordinate activities with departments to ensure efficient service.

Qualifications

Three to six months of related experience or equivalent; good verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; interpersonal skills; ability to follow instructions; basic computer skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
