Job summary

AltaSteel is seeking a detail-oriented Scalehouse Operator to join our Edmonton team. You will be the first contact for drivers, handling inbound/outbound rail cars and trucks, and ensuring accurate product quantities.

Reporting to the Scalehouse Manager, you will perform data entry, communicate by radio and email, and maintain strict safety and quality standards in a fast-paced industrial setting. Training is provided, with benefits and pension offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in scalehouse, dispatch, or shipper/receiver roles welcomed; equivalent experience considered.
• Proficient with computers and quick to learn new software.
• Strong safety and customer-service mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, close-quarters environment.
• In-town work; Monday–Friday schedule; rotating shifts.
• Overtime may be required; training provided; PPE provided.
• Criminal record check and pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Direct scale and ticket inbound and outbound rail cars and trucks.
• Organize trucks from outbound shipments daily to ensure correct product and timing.
• Daily verbal and radio communication.
• Data entry into site-specific computer programs.
• Email communication with stakeholders.
• Inspect product quality on arrival.
• Follow procedures and adapt to problems.
