The Role

This position is responsible for SCADA and Control planning, engineering design, deployment, and commissioning on renewable energy power plants. Required experience includes power and control systems engineering, data acquisition, and telecommunications. Field experience in testing/commissioning and/or telecommunications is a plus.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Provide SCADA expertise during design, development, implementation, and commissioning of wind, battery, solar, and PV + Storage systems.
  • Design and deploy SCADA systems for renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers on procurement, deployment plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Manage client relationships to clarify requirements and expectations.
  • Oversee IT consultants and subcontractors for network security, testing, budgets, and system completion.
  • Coordinate TELCO installation, scheduling, and stakeholder expectations on-site.
  • Deploy solutions within timelines and budgets; troubleshoot until requirements are met.
  • Program RTAC units and communication hardware using standard protocols.
  • Work closely with clients, project managers, and engineers to ensure quality installation and testing per design specs.
  • Verify SCADA systems meet project, QSE, CAISO, utility, and regional requirements.
  • Ensure safety standards are followed.

Ideal Profile

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with SCADA software programming, historians, MS SQL servers.
  • Proficiency with Inductive Automation Ignition 7.x or 8.x.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: Modbus, OPC, DNP3, IEC 61850, ICCP, etc.
  • Experience with RTAC programming, Rockwell PLC, and Control Logix (a plus).
  • Automation device integration experience.
  • BESS EMS system knowledge (a plus).
  • Complete SCADA project lifecycle experience.
  • Power utility-scale SCADA development and design experience.
  • FAT and SAT testing and documentation experience.
  • Working knowledge of utility meters, RTAC, protection relays.
  • Understanding of NERC CIP standards.
  • Knowledge of managed switches, Hirschmann, Moxa, Cisco equipment.
  • Networking, security, and firewall knowledge for power plants.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of utility or industrial SCADA experience.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-experts collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects is a plus.
  • Stay current on SCADA regulations and standards.
  • Willing to travel approximately 25%.
