As part of the System Engineering Department, the Satellite System Engineer will lead or support Mission Analysis, requirements, CONOPS, System design, performance budgets, performance analysis, implementation, and testing in support of the Telecommunication Satellite Team.
Tasks :
The Satellite Systems engineer will perform and participate in the following tasks, depending on their background and experience:
- Lead, develop, and maintain system requirements from the mission level down to major subsystem levels for Mechanical or Electrical aspects (Platform, Payload, Ground Segment) based on mission requirements and customer needs.
- Conduct mission design trade-off studies to develop overall mission subsystems.
- Develop performance budgets, design reports, and CONOPS.
- Support mission development and analysis, including link budgets, coverage analyses, geolocation accuracy, pointing knowledge budgets, and mass considerations.
- Develop and maintain ICDs (Interface Control Documents) between major mission subsystems such as Platform and Payload.
- Review design materials from subcontractors to ensure requirement compliance and SOC adherence.
- Model satellites using a MBSE approach.
- Develop satellite test procedures and oversee their execution.
- Verify and validate mission activities and develop operations procedures for on-orbit commissioning and routine operations.
- Monitor suppliers and the integrated product team.
- Participate in satellite electrical and RF performance evaluations.
- Provide inputs and support for all program reviews, including EQSR, SRR, PDR, and CDR.
- Support satellite assembly, integration, and testing.
- Attend test reviews such as TRR, TRB, DRB, and NCRs.
- Support satellite testing at test facilities or supplier premises, including EGSE, test supervision, and data analysis.
- Assist with in-orbit testing (IOT).
- Write satellite procedures and operations manuals.
Profile :
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related field with over 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in French and English is required.
- Previous experience in design and testing of LEO/MEO satellites and subsystems.
- Understanding of space environment and orbit mechanics.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace systems and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience testing satellite subsystems and resolving RF system problems.
- Hands-on leader capable of managing system integration processes.
- Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of new designs.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions through analysis, similarity, or creativity.
- Experience with modeling and simulation software.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Experience leading and coaching technical teams.
- Support spacecraft operations during critical phases.
