Job summary

Abbeal is seeking a senior data development professional for a major Canadian bank migrating SAS 9.3 to SAS Viya. You will migrate and rewrite SAS programs, automate what can be automated in Python, and use GitHub Copilot to speed up repetitive work.

Open to candidates across Canada, with work scheduled to Montreal time and approximately two office days per week; English required, French a plus. Experience with Base, Macro, SQL, Enterprise Guide, and cloud platforms is essential.

A major Canadian bank is migrating its analytical and regulatory workloads from SAS 9.3 to SAS Viya and is strengthening the team running the program.

Context

The program covers sensitive processing, part of which supports regulatory compliance. The team relies on automation and AI-assisted development to speed up the migration without lowering quality.

The role

You migrate and rewrite SAS programs, automate what can be automated in Python, and use GitHub Copilot every day to save time on repetitive work.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of experience in data development or automation
• Strong SAS skills: Base, Macro, SQL, Enterprise Guide
• Python for automation, Git and cloud platforms
• Agile practice with Jira and Confluence
• Nice to have: a SAS 9.x to Viya migration already delivered, banking or regulatory experience (credit risk, AML, fraud, compliance)
• English is required, French is a plus
