Talan is seeking an SAP Supply Chain Domain Architect in Canada to lead and shape end-to-end SAP SCM solutions across multiple client engagements. You will own the functional architecture for IBP, O2C, procurement, inventory, and logistics interfaces, guiding design decisions and ensuring coherence across master data and execution systems.

The role requires deep SAP experience, leadership in multi-engagement environments, and the ability to work remotely with North America-based clients.

Qualifications

• Over 12 years SAP experience with at least 10 years in Supply Chain configuration.
• Participation in multiple SAP S/4HANA projects including greenfield or selective transition.

Reporting to the Vice President, Delivery, the SAP Supply Chain Domain Architect is Talan’s functional authority for supply chain planning and execution processes across multiple clients and engagements. The role covers demand and supply planning in SAP IBP, order to cash, sourcing and procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics, and the connection between planning and manufacturing.

You step in when decisions require a deep understanding of how SAP works and of end-to-end process handoffs. Working with Sales, solution, and delivery teams, you shape solutions, approve functional designs, arbitrate gaps against standard, and safeguard the coherence of planning, master data, inventory, and logistics execution.

Your mission consists of:

• Consultative intelligence
  • Provide the deep functional expertise required to shape solutions by distinguishing standard capabilities, genuine gaps, and the choice among configuration, extension, or process change.
  • Lead Supply Chain workstreams in digital discovery and readiness assessments, then present recommendations, estimates, assumptions, and trade-offs in workshops, proposals, and oral presentations.
  • Assess the end-to-end implications of planning and execution choices for availability, inventory, customer promise, procurement, warehousing, transport, and manufacturing.
• Technical and functional expertise
  • Define and uphold the functional architecture for the domain, including SAP IBP, order to cash, sourcing and procurement, inventory management, SAP EWM, SAP TM touchpoints, and the planning-to-production connection.
  • Configure and prototype complex scenarios when design decisions cannot be settled on paper, then confirm the end-to-end behaviour of master data and process handoffs.
  • Guide decisions involving demand planning, response and supply, inventory optimization, S&OP, advanced ATP, pricing, rebates, and condition contract management.
• Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Review and approve functional designs, specifications for reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, and workflows, and the domain’s critical test strategies and scripts.
  • Support defect analysis during system integration, user acceptance, and regression testing, then resolve domain escalations through cutover, hypercare, and transition into AMS.
  • Guide data migration and cutover decisions, with particular attention to master data and the quality thresholds that determine the reliability of planning and execution results.
• Leadership, vision and initiative
  • Act as the Supply Chain design authority across multiple concurrent engagements and serve as the quality gate before deliverables reach clients.
  • Coach functional consultants through design reviews, contribute to interviews and onboarding, and identify the capabilities the practice must develop, train, or hire.
  • Track the SAP roadmap for the domain and brief the practice on changes that affect the standard approach, clean core, and cloud solutions.
• Knowledge sharing
  • Create and maintain reusable process models, configuration accelerators, demo environments and scripts, guides, and design patterns for presales and delivery.
  • Capture engagement lessons and patterns in practice intellectual property and contribute domain content to AI-enabled delivery tools and the internal knowledge base.

• SAP experience: At least twelve (12) years of SAP experience, including at least ten (10) years of hands‑on configuration in Supply Chain, with a track record as the domain escalation point.
• SAP S/4HANA achievements:
  • Participation in at least four (4) SAP S/4HANA projects on current releases, including at least one greenfield implementation or selective transition where the candidate owned domain design.
  • Participation in at least (1) end-to-end Public Cloud project.
• Design authority: At least three (3) years reviewing and approving other people’s functional designs, with demonstrated experience supporting multiple concurrent engagements.
• Planning: Hands‑on SAP IBP experience across at least two of demand, response and supply, inventory optimization, and S&OP, including planning‑model configuration.
• Supply chain execution: Expertise in order to cash, including advanced ATP, pricing, and rebates or condition contract management, and in sourcing and procurement, including where SAP Ariba fits.
• Logistics and manufacturing: Experience with warehousing and logistics execution using embedded or decentralized SAP EWM, transportation touchpoints, and the planning-to-production connection.
• Industries: Working credibility in at least two of Mining, Oil and Gas, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Industrial Manufacturing.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Conditions: Canada-based remote role with client travel across North America representing approximately 20% to 40% of working time.
• Communication: Good oral and written communication skills in English, to communicate with clients located across North America.

Assets

• Exposure to Consumer Packaged Goods demand planning and promotional forecasting or to mining logistics and concentrate movement.
• Consulting experience with a Big Four firm or SAP partner, experience building reusable accelerators, and experience with SAP public cloud and clean-core constraints.
• Exposure to SAP GTS, SAP Transportation Management, or third-party logistics integration.
• SAP Integrated Business Planning certification preferred; SAP S/4HANA certification in Sourcing and Procurement, Sales, or Supply Chain; SAP EWM or SAP TM certification and APICS CPIM or CSCP designation considered assets.
