Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, tools, machinery, and food contact surfaces.
  • Ensure all facility areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Perform sanitation activities per SSOPs, GMPs, and Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Maintain sanitation records, checklists, and documentation accurately.
  • Safely handle, prepare, and use cleaning chemicals per policies and WHMIS.
  • Inspect equipment and areas to verify cleanliness and sanitation effectiveness.
  • Refill dispensers (paper towels, soap, toilet paper, sanitizer) as directed.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene per GMP requirements.
  • Identify and report sanitation deficiencies or safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Communicate sanitation needs to supervisors and team members.
  • Support production changeovers and readiness through cleaning and prep.

Location: Mucci Pac Ltd., Kingsville, Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Schedule: 6 days per week, with additional hours as required. Occasional Sunday work may be required based on operational demands, workload, and business priorities.

Position Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and food-safe environment throughout the facility. This role supports food safety, quality assurance, and operational excellence by ensuring all production equipment, food contact surfaces, common areas, offices, and washrooms are cleaned and sanitized.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, tools, machinery, and food contact surfaces in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure all facility areas, including production rooms, offices, lunchrooms, and washrooms, meet company cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Perform sanitation activities in compliance with SSOPs, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Complete and maintain sanitation records, checklists, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Safely handle, prepare, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with company policies, Food Safety requirements, WHMIS standards, and provided training.
  • Inspect equipment and work areas to verify cleanliness and sanitation effectiveness.
  • Refill dispensers throughout the facility, including paper towels, hand soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and other supplies as directed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Identify and report sanitation deficiencies, maintenance concerns, food safety risks, and safety hazards to the Sanitation Lead or Sanitation Specialist.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members regarding sanitation requirements and production setup needs.
  • Support production changeovers and next-day operational readiness through proper cleaning and preparation activities.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment at all times.
  • Assist with special sanitation projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices, cleaning procedures, and food-safe cleaning methods.
  • Previous sanitation, janitorial, industrial cleaning, or food processing experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety principles, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, procedures, and sanitation schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining accountable for assigned tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to identify potential sanitation, safety, or food quality concerns and take appropriate action.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stretch, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 14 kg (30 lbs.) and occasionally up to 23 kg (50 lbs.).
  • Ability to climb stairs and remain on feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate sanitation equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13°C (55°F).
