Ice River Sustainable Solutions in Shelburne is hiring a Quality Sanitation Technician to sanitize production equipment and maintain a clean production floor. The role supports HACCP/SQF compliance and requires safe handling of chemicals, with record-keeping for quality and safety.

The position offers Mon–Fri days, on‑the‑job training, uniforms, shoe allowance, and benefits including life, health, and dental coverage, plus RRSP matching. Prior QA/sanitation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of QA or sanitation experience in beverage/food manufacturing.
• High School education or equivalent; training in use of chemicals and QA processes.
• Working knowledge of chemicals, safe handling, storage and disposal.
• Excellent WHMIS knowledge.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Able to stand/walk/climb/bend for extended periods.
• Able to multitask in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize machinery, tools, and equipment in the production area.
• Dispose of waste materials, including hazardous materials, per safety and environmental regulations.
• Cross-train on all sanitation functions and learn line-specific cleaning processes.
• Perform post-sanitation swabbing per SOP for microbiological testing.
• Maintain inventory for sanitation supplies and chemicals.
• Coordinate cleaning tasks with Front Line Managers across shifts.
• Adhere to HACCP and SQF programs and keep accurate records.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Sanitation Technician in our Shelburne facility plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe workspace to ensure the quality and safety of products produced. This position is responsible for the full cleaning and sanitizing of all production equipment and the production areas, as well as, maintaining the daily cleanliness of the production floor including rest areas and offices. This position will be performed both indoors and outdoors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sanitation Technicians are responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing machinery, tools, and equipment used in the manufacturing process. This includes cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, production areas, including floors, walls, and holding tanks, to eliminate dirt, dust, and contaminants that can affect product quality and safety.
• Handle the proper disposal of waste materials, including hazardous materials and chemicals, in accordance with safety and environmental regulations, such as those related to food safety, workplace safety, and environmental standards.
• Cross train on all functions of the sanitation department. Learn the processes for cleaning each line and its equipment, including the operation of all sanitation tools/equipment.
• Complete post sanitation swabbing following procedure laid out SOP for microbiological testing.
• Inventory control for all sanitation supplies including chemicals, filters, equipment and cleaning supplies.
• Work with Front Line Managers on all shifts to coordinate scheduling of cleaning tasks.
• Adhere to corporate HACCP and SQF programs.
• Maintaining accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities to demonstrate compliance with regulations and quality standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• 1 Year of experience in a quality assurance or sanitation role within a beverage/food manufacturing facility or equivalent experience in related field.
• Some functional training in use of chemicals, Basic Chemistry and QA processes and procedures combined with a High School education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of chemicals, and related safe handling, storage and disposal.
• Excellent working knowledge of WHMIS system.
• Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team.
• Good organizational & communication skills.
• Must be able to transfer this knowledge to others as part of the work team.
• Physically capable of walking climbing and bending for extended periods of time.
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment.

PAY RATE- $21.48 hourly with wage increase after 3 months.
