Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. in Hanover, ON seeks an Assistant Supervisor – Sanitation for a 1-year contract.

This role leads sanitation teams, oversees the Master Sanitation Schedule, and coordinates daily sanitation activities to support food safety, biosecurity and production readiness. The position requires 1–3 years of supervisory experience, a post-secondary credential in Operations/Management, and the ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of supervisory or related experience.
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in Operations, Management or Leadership studies is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment.
• Flexibility with hours and shift coverage.
• CPR and First Aid certification as needed.
• Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs repetitively and work in wet/humid environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee sanitation scheduling using the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
• Provide daily leadership and direction to sanitation team members.
• Lead pre-shift huddles and team meetings to align priorities and actions.
• Support site leadership with operational coordination and coverage as needed.
• Perform and verify sanitation effectiveness with tests and inspections.
• Monitor sanitation verification programs (ATP swabbing) and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Oversee specialized sanitation processes and follow up on deviations.
• Maintain sanitation records and reporting (TPC results).
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, WHMIS and company standards.
• Manage ordering and inventory of hatchery sanitation supplies and chemicals.
