Job summary

Ya YA Foods, located in Belleville, Ontario, is seeking a proactive Sanitation Associate to maintain cleanliness and safety across production, warehouses, labs and common areas. You will follow GMP/HACCP guidelines, read MSDS labels and ensure proper handling of chemicals while supporting a hygienic work environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning, disinfecting surfaces, restocking supplies, performing daily floor care, and keeping accurate cleaning records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Scissor lift and forklift license an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of MSDS and WHMIS.
  • Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment.
  • Skill in organization, time management, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines for multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality of support and service.
  • Self-starter and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of management.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is an asset.
  • Team player and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • NB: Successful candidates will be required to provide photo ID, banking details, a valid SIN number, and (if applicable) a valid work permit.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all common areas (lunchroom and washroom), production areas, warehouses, exterior premises and labs.
  • Sweep and mop the floors on a daily basis.
  • Empty all trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Refill soap and hand towels.
  • Be able to work at heights to clean.
  • Use safety signs to prevent incidents and accidents (e.g., wet floor signs).
  • Restock cleaning supplies and keep the team leader updated about inventory and maintenance issues.
  • Report on potential issues to management.
  • Understand the Standard Operating Procedures and inspection regulations.
  • Read chemical labels or MSDS and properly handle chemicals.
  • Understand labels, packages, and basic measurements.
  • Complete forms and maintain cleaning records.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to address any cleaning-related concerns or issues.
  • Implement GMP and HACCP procedures that relate to cleanliness, food safety and pest control.
  • Observe all safety rules and promote a safe working environment.
  • Maintain strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Compliance with Health & Safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
  • Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems including Production, Quality, Food Safety and GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
