Job summary

P&H Foods Inc. is seeking a sanitation supervisor to oversee food contact, non-food contact and environmental sanitation. You will ensure the SQF system's integrity and communicate essential information to maintain the sanitation program effectiveness.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Oversee the sanitation of food contact, non-food contact and environmental surface. Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System and communicate information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the sanitation system.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • HACCP and first aid training considered an asset
  • Ability to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively
  • Sound understanding of the principles and practices of effective supervision, skilled at motivating and leading a diverse group of employees. Additional training in supervision would be desirable
  • Basic knowledge of computer and able to learn in-house systems
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with others as part of a team, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions
  • Must be able to provide clear, concise general instructions for team effectiveness and productivity
  • Routing decision making which generally follows set standards and procedures. This position is encouraged to independently bring forth innovative ideas and suggestions to improve production and/or the work environment
  • Must be organized and able to use judgement and make independent decisions
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain safety, attendance, and HACCP information for furtherance to HACCP Coordinator
  • Ensure all food safety issues are communicated to SQFP and Plant Manager
  • Inform Maintenance Crew of any concerns, as well as document maintenance related concerns
  • Maintain proper inventory of cleaning chemicals
  • Supervise, assign tasks, and review the work activities of sanitation staff members
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of staff
  • Ensure employees adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Complete all HACCP forms as required
  • Ensure all sanitation training is documented and complete in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure that all new employee probationary evaluations are completed at 3 months
  • Ensure that all employees are evaluated annually
  • Ensure that all employees are trained properly, and training documentation is signed
  • Be aware of all company policies and procedures and rectify any gaps present
  • Conducts discipline and termination meetings as required
  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes within your team
  • Ensure all staff is trained on mobile equipment
  • Advocate for company and company values
  • Contribute to the selection of staff, ensuring training is complete, and participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions
  • Document attendance infractions and issue appropriate level of discipline up to but not including suspensions
  • Address employee concerns in a timely manner
  • Update Sanitation Supervisor on any procedural changes and record in sanitation procedure binder
  • Assist co-workers where and when needed
  • All other duties assigned by the Plant Manager
Quality/Food Safety Program
  • Train employees who are responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting quality and food safety issues on the following items:
  • The task that needs to be completed
  • The frequency at which it needs to be completed
  • What a deviation is
  • What to do in the event of a deviation
  • Corrective actions to be taken
  • Proper documentation to be completed
  • Utilize the monitoring record, procedures, and deviation records. Ensure proper completion of all records generated
  • Verify that the following verification documents are completed at the required frequencies:
  • Daily pre-operations check after QC
  • Weekly sanitation checklist
  • Monthly sanitation checklist
  • Yearly master sanitation schedule
  • Annually
  • Review of sanitation manual
  • Perform all general sanitation duties as per Sanitation Program
  • Annual sanitation manual review
