Job summary

UNFI Canada is seeking a Sanitation Associate for the Concord distribution center to clean the warehouse and corporate office, operate floor scrubbers, and assist with maintenance and snow removal as needed.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, capability to work in Dry, Cooler, and Freezer environments, and collaboration with teams while adhering to HACCP and SQF guidelines.

Qualifications

• Able to work in different temperatures inside the warehouse including Dry, Cooler, and Freezer (-20 C)
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs when required
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods
• Understands safety guidelines and procedures
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers
• Ability to operate machinery including a Walkie Rider / Electric Pallet Jack
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Cleaning the warehouse distribution center (75%) and corporate office (25%)
• Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors and windows, and emptying trash
• Operates floor scrubber
• Operates Walkie Rider to transport and dispose of garbage to compactor
• Sweeps and vacuums dock plates, sanitation barriers
• Empties garbage bins from all locations in the cooler, freezer, loading docks, offices, and break rooms
• Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper
• Discards leaking product and records on reconditioning log
• Reports any violations of company policy to supervisor or coordinator
• Performs duties in accordance with HACCP and SQF policies and procedures

Job Overview:

The Sanitation Associate is mainly responsible for cleaning the warehouse. Performs routine cleaning including vacuuming; sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, cleaning racks, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Assists with snow removal when needed.

Shift/Schedule:

Monday-Friday 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Job Responsibilities:

• Cleaning the warehouse distribution center (75%) and corporate office (25%)
• Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors and windows, and emptying trash.
• Operates floor scrubber
• Operates Walkie Rider to transport and dispose of garbage to compactor.

• Empties cardboard and plastic recycling and compacts.
• Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
• Discards leaking product and records on reconditioning log.
• Reports any violations of company policy to supervisor or coordinator.
• Performs duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
• Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• Previous Cleaning/Sanitation experience in a warehouse, food manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to work in different temperatures inside the warehouse including Dry Section, Cooler Section, and Freezer Section ( -20 C°)
• Able to lift up[ to 50 lbs when required
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
• Understands Safety guidelines.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers
• Ability to operate machinery including a Walkie Rider / Electric Pallet Jack
• Understands procedures in different areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time

• This role requires the associate to perform all duties at the UNFI Canada distribution center in Concord, Ontario.
