Job Title: Sample Logistics Technician

Reports to: Sample Support Supervisor/ Customer Service Supervisor

Department: Sample Logistics / Customer Service

Location: Calgary, A.B.

Fixed-Term: Contract until November, 2025

Basic Purpose:

Sample receipt, preparation of supplies and shipping related duties for all clients in support of the Sample Logistics Team. This position also includes administrative functions.

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

1. Greet all clients in a friendly, positive manner.
2. Receive all external client samples.
3. Unpack samples and organize them according to analytical requirements.
4. Ensure client samples are entered into LIMS and approved in a timely manner according to sample holding time, test code, due date, and/or received date.
5. Ensure all required samples are redirected as required.
6. Prepare bottle orders requests and coordinate delivery of bottle orders.
7. Provide support to the Sample Log In team.
8. Ensure accuracy of results and data entry.
9. Recognize routine and non-routine problems and escalate to the Supervisor.
10. Ensure supply inventories are maintained.
11. Proactively ensure overall satisfaction of regional client base including communication to project management and supervisor as appropriate.
12. Monitor/Calibrate the temperatures of fridges, thermometers and temperature guns.
13. Adhere to Bureau Veritas’ quality systems QA/QC, SOPs and external accreditation requirements.
14. Adhere to Bureau Veritas’ safety policies.
15. All other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

1. High School Diploma.
2. Experience in a laboratory environment is considered an asset.
3. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
4. Excellent attention to detail.
5. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
6. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
7. Ability to work independently as well as engage others when required in escalation of concerns to meet the client needs or to best manage client disappointments.
8. Energetic and keen with a positive attitude who thrives in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking, prioritizing and adapting to changes are required.

Working Conditions:

1. High level of work production in fast-paced lab environment.
2. Flexible working hours, overtime and shift work.
3. Changing priorities and balancing workload to meet tight deadlines.
4. Some lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs) and may involve long periods of standing.
5. Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment.

The salary range for this role is $18.00.
