Job summary

Salt + Ash Beach House, part of Freehand Hospitality, is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support our kitchen team and maintain cleanliness and hygiene to ensure smooth workflow. Reporting to the Chef de Cuisine, you will help keep dishes, utensils and surfaces spotless and organized in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a dishwasher role or similar is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and stay calm under pressure.
• Organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.
• Able to stand 100% of the time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable transportation, as late-night shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashers efficiently.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, plates and work areas.
• Clean dishwasher mats, carts and racks.
• Receive, stock and organize food and supply orders.
• Safely handle and store cleaning products.
• Sweep, mop, organize and remove garbage and compost.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine, Salt + Ash Beach House is seeking a Dishwasher/Kitchen Steward to support our kitchen team by maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a smooth workflow in the kitchen, while adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

What you will be doing as a Kitchen Steward:

• Operating dishwashers efficiently;
• Ensuring that kitchen equipment, utensils, plates, and work areas are cleaned and sanitized to meet health and safety standards;
• Cleaning and sanitizing dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks;
• Responsible for receiving, stocking and organizing food and supply orders;
• Safely handling and storing cleaning products;
• General dish area maintenance which includes sweeping, mopping, organization and removal of garbage and compost;
• Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

The person we are looking for has:

• Previous experience working in a dishwasher role or similar environment an asset
• Strong attention to detail;
• The ability to take direction and remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment;
• Organizational skills and an ability to multi-task;
• Able to spend 100% of the time standing;
• The ability to handle heavy lifting up 50 lbs;
• A reliable form of transportation, as public transportation may not be available late at night.
