Job Title: Salon Business Consultant


Great opportunity! The Salon Business Consultant is a sales solution specialist role, covering and growing a territory in and around Sudbury, Sault Sainte Marie, Espanola, Elliot Lake, Blind River, North Bay, Mattawa, Deep River, Pembroke, Niskeiard, Kirkland Lake, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Timmins, Hearst, and Moosonee, Ontario, Canada.

Essential Functions

Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred


The Salon Business Consultant is responsible for an assigned territory of customers, focusing on growing their salons' overall sales. Responsibilities include meeting sales goals using manufacturer education and sales resources, expanding sales through new customer acquisition, selling approved beauty products, introducing new products and concepts, and utilizing social media to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed beauty professionals.


Primary Duties
  1. Grow the Business:
  • Identify key accounts and establish an efficient route to develop existing customers and find new partnerships.
  • Assist customers in developing, implementing, and tracking salon promotions and programs.
  • Determine customer needs and offer suitable products and services.
  • Communicate sales initiatives with vendors to achieve sales goals.
  • Respond promptly to all communications (within 24 hours).
  • Analyze accounts to determine support, education, and promotion needs.
  • Call on customers in person to meet sales goals.
  • Follow procedures for returns and complete necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with other business areas like customer service, accounts receivable, and IT.
  • Prospect for new customers via cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
  • Manage administrative tasks efficiently, including order entry and maintaining customer data in Salesforce.
  • Utilize social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct product knowledge classes in person and virtually.
  • Communicate regularly with the manager about sales activities and support needed.
  • Grow Team and Culture:
    • Become a subject matter expert on digital platforms and social media, sharing knowledge with peers.
    • Attend meetings, events, and trade shows, assisting with setup, dismantling, and stock management.
    • Support new initiatives and foster positive change management.
  • Grow Yourself:
    • Seek continuous learning and development, especially in digital and social media skills.
    • Participate in business development days to enhance product knowledge and vendor relationships.
    • Use all available resources for personal growth.
    • Stay adaptable to market changes and build industry knowledge.
    • Create an organized workspace to optimize customer service.
    Experience and Skills Required
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • At least 1 year of outside sales or beauty industry experience, emphasizing consultative selling.
    • Reside within the assigned territory.
    • Knowledge of inventory control and visual merchandising is preferred.
    • Proficiency with social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram.
    • Strong computer skills, including Salesforce, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle; experience with iPad is a plus.
    • Ability to build online communities and social connections.
    • Willingness to travel locally and attend trade shows and educational events, including overnight and weekend travel.
    • Ability to work safely and maintain alertness.
    • Prolonged driving may be required.
    • Flexible with working hours and able to manage multiple projects effectively.
    • Professional appearance and positive public interaction skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
