Job description

This is a position for someone looking to take their career to the next level. We’re looking for a hydrogeologist, engineer or geoscientist with 3 to 8 years or more of experience in environmental consulting or engineering. The position includes a mix of field and office assignments with tasks such as oversight of well drilling and testing programs, field investigations, data compilation and analysis, project management, and report and proposal writing. General qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in hydrogeology, earth science, environmental engineering or similar.
  • A desire to practice hydrogeology—groundwater and water resource management is what we do.
  • Professional status with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (P.Geo. / P.Eng.) or late stage in-training status.
  • Professional experience in BC and a strong understanding of the WSA, GPR, and MWR are key to this role. If you’re familiar with these acronyms, it’s a great sign that you have the level and type of experience we’re seeking.

What We Offer:

Western Water is a technically strong, specialist consulting firm with a small company feel and casual working environment. You will know all your colleagues and interact with company leadership. Our goal is to provide a work environment that supports your hydrogeological curiosities and career goals while encouraging you to make it to the ski hill on powder days. Employee owned, we believe in sharing the responsibility and rewards of ownership. Equity ownership is a possibility for proven team members.

Compensation:

75,000-$110,000 Annual Salary. Actual salary will depend on experience, qualifications etc. You will have direct and frequent access to senior staff, professional guidance and mentorship, opportunities for professional development, both internally with one of the largest standalone hydrogeology groups in the Province, and externally. You can expect to work in a wide variety of hydrogeology areas including water supply, groundwater monitoring, flowing artesian wells, environmental impact assessments, wastewater and stormwater disposal. Our competitive compensation package includes wellness benefits, RRSP Plans, extended health benefits and profit sharing.

Location:

This current opportunity will be based out of our Vernon head office in British Columbia’s northern Okanagan Valley. Vernon is a vibrant and growing community offering abundant recreational opportunities in all four seasons and an excellent community to grow and raise a family. Vernon is located 40 minutes north of Kelowna and provides easy access to the best cultural experiences the region has to offer, as well as the Kelowna International Airport and UBC Okanagan.
